Tim and Marketa Southerland have served since 1998 in Europe as church planters. During the nine years they lived in The Netherlands, they were involved with various Dutch church plants and established The International Church of Leiden that grew from their living room to a self-supporting congregation of over 250. They also worked very closely with the Dutch Assemblies of God as they went through a process of renewal and saw the movement grow from a group of 60 churches to over 270. They were instrumental in introducing Chi Alpha student ministry to the nation as well as working with the Dutch Assemblies of God Bible School.
In 2006, they were asked to serve as Area Directors for Northern Europe. This includes the countries of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Scandinavia. In 2012, they were asked to add Western Europe (The Netherlands, Belgium, and France) to their list of countries as area directors. Their goal is to reach secular peoples of Northwestern Europe, resource national leaders, and restore church renewal/planting throughout these countries.
Tim holds a M.Div. from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and a D. Min. in Renewal from Fuller Theological Seminary. Marketa has her B.A. in elementary education from Evangel University. They both speak Dutch, love long walks, and reading. They were married in 1985 and have three sons, James, Andrew, and Michael.
